Sarcopenia, the gradual loss of muscle mass, strength, and function. It used to be believed that sarcopenia was a natural part of aging. Studies have shown that sarcopenia is in fact due to chronic disuse rather than aging. This means that strength and muscle mass do not have to decline significantly with age. You must strength train regularly in order to prevent loss of muscle mass, strength, and function as you age.
Rapid weight loss while taking GLP-1 meds like Ozempic and Wegovy without proper diet and exercise can cause a decrease in muscle mass, lessen bone mineral density, and lower the resting metabolic rate. We can help with our GLP- 1 support program.

Strength training is not always lifting or squatting with giant barbells like you see in the movies. Strength training is putting muscles under tension to cause neuromuscular adaptations and stimulate muscle growth. This can be done in a variety of ways.
Body Weight- Your own body weight and the force of gravity can be used in exercises such as pushups, squats, planks, pullups, and lunges
Free weights- this is any equipment not bound to the floor such as dumbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, objects around the house, and of course the traditional barbells
Resistance bands- rubber bands that provide resistance when stretched
Suspension Equipment- ropes or straps anchored to a sturdy point where a person uses body weight and gravity to perform exercises
Weight machines- machines often seen in larger gyms
